Most of what I build falls into three groups. Voice AI answers your phone around the clock — booking appointments straight into your calendar, collecting job details, answering common questions and sending you the details after every call. Automation removes repetitive work: moving information between the systems you already use, and the admin that quietly eats an afternoon a week. AI agents run continuously in the background, monitoring websites or marketplaces, tracking competitors, gathering research and alerting you when something matters. The common thread is work that is repetitive, predictable, and costing you time or lost enquiries today. If a task is none of those things, automating it usually is not worth the effort.

Can AI really answer my business phone calls?

Yes, and for a lot of trades and service businesses it is the single highest-value thing to automate. If you are on a job, driving, already on another call or closed for the day, the call still gets answered. The system answers 24 hours a day, books appointments directly into your calendar, collects job details, answers common questions, and transfers to a human when the caller needs one. After each call you receive the details, so nothing is missed. It works particularly well for plumbers, electricians, builders, service companies and local trades — businesses that lose real work simply because nobody was free to pick up the phone.

How much does Stuart Cole Consulting cost?

Every system is quoted as a fixed price once we know what it needs to do, so you know the cost before any work starts — no hourly billing and no open-ended retainers. What it comes to depends mostly on how many of your systems the automation touches, and whether it runs on a hosted service or on your own hardware: a local AI system removes ongoing subscription fees but needs a machine to run on. The first conversation is free. We talk through the tasks you would like automated, and I will tell you honestly whether automation is worth it for you, and give you an indicative figure, before you commit to anything.

The trade-off is that you need hardware for it to run on and someone to set it up properly. For businesses handling sensitive information, or already paying for several AI subscriptions, it usually pays for itself.

Do I need to be technical to use any of this?

No, and most of the businesses I work with are not. The process is straightforward: we start with a conversation about the tasks you would like automated, I design the workflow or AI system, then install and configure it — whether that is a voice AI setup or a local AI environment. It is tested against real scenarios before it goes anywhere near live work, and improved as your needs change. I have worked with automation systems for over 20 years and I am not tied to any one platform, so the advice you get is about what will actually work for your business rather than what I happen to sell.

Do you only work with businesses in Gloucestershire?

No. I am based in Cheltenham and I am glad to visit businesses across Gloucestershire and the wider South West — being on site helps when we are setting up hardware, or working through how your phones are handled today. Most of the work can be done remotely, though, so I also work with businesses across the UK. Voice AI and automation setups in particular do not need me in the room. What matters far more than location is whether you have work that is repetitive, or enquiries slipping away because nobody could answer the phone.
